The club can trace its history back to 1900 when it was previously called Publow Angling Club (1900) and Pensford Angling Club (1905). The Club changed its name to Chew Fly Fishing Club in 1909 and it has remained the same for the last 116 years.
In 1900 the club had twenty-one members and numbers have remained consistently around 20-35 members for the last 125 years.
The club undertake river and lake management with annual clearing and maintenance days offering members the chance to both improve the fishing environment and meet up and share stories.
Some members also conduct river fly monitoring, and the club works closely with Bristol Avon Rivers Trust (BART) to help protect and improve the river.
Accessibility is excellent for both the river and lake with parking available in the middle section of the river including access to a toilet and changing area and the clubs catch returns book.
Currently the club has 25 members and there is some availability to join. Members can also access the members area on the website to record and view catch returns, beat maps, members gallery, club fish records and latest news.
